  • Matthew Jones

Matthew Jones President, Law Jones Funeral Home

As a Carroll County native, Matthew Jones grew up along the river towns that he still calls home today. He is a graduate of Savanna High School and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. While Matthew initially had a career in technology near the city of Chicago, later events brought him back to his roots in northwestern Illinois. During his formative years, Matthew learned about the importance of preserving and sharing community history from his father, Melvin (Mel) Jones. Mel collected hundreds of historic photos and presented stories about the river and railroad communities through programs he personally initiated. Matt was influenced by participating with his father in these programs. When Mel died suddenly at the age of 50, Matthew left his career in technology to join his brother, Michael, as a co-owner of Law Jones Funeral Home, which had then grown to five locations. He graduated from the Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Wheeling, Illinois. Matthew always wanted to work alongside his father, who took great honor in helping families at their time of need, so this was an opportunity for Matthew to continue the legacy of his father through service to the community. As the President of Law Jones Funeral Home, Matthew believes the business is uniquely positioned to care for the deceased and help guide families through the entire healing process.
