James R. “Bob” Brundage, age 80, of Sabula, Iowa died Saturday, July 15, 2006 at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 19 at the Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula with Pastor Robert Krueger officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Sabula. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 18 at the Calvary Lutheran Church. Memorials may be given in Bob’s name for the Church.
Bob was born July 19, 1925 in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Walter and Thelma (Tracy) Brundage. He married Isabelle Mangler November 22, 1944. Bob served as a Sergeant in the United States Army during WWII.
Bob worked as a Brakeman for the Milwaukee Railroad and the Soo Line, retiring after 35 years. He loved to spend time with his family. His grandchildren were most important to him. He enjoyed attending their sporting events, driving them to school and celebrating holidays together. He was also proud of his John Deere tractor. He tilled gardens, plowed snow and mowed grass, including the Little League Baseball diamond.
He was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, Sabula, American Legion, Post #74, Sabula, Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, and the National Assoc. of Retired Veteran Railway Employees.
Bob will be dearly missed by his wife, Isabelle “Izzy” Brundage of Sabula; a son, Dan “Beno” Brundage of Sabula; four daughters, Sandra (Jack) Kempter of Sabula, Kathy (Dick) Schoenhaar of Savanna, Illinois, Tanya (Denny) Heintz of Fairfax, Iowa and Kristi (Dan) Johnson of Sabula; 22 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Bruce (Ruth) Brundage of Germany and Victor (Betty) Brundage of Sabula.
Bob was preceded in death by two sons, Jim and Ricky Brundage; two granddaughters, Tiffany Leonard and Terri Schoenhaar; two brothers, Harold and Marvin Brundage; and a son in-law, Brad Leonard.
